Sales Letter Writing Assessment - The Rule of Thirds and How to Use It to Improve Your Sales Letters

Sales Letter Writing Assessment - The Rule of Thirds and How to Use It to Improve Your Sales LettersWhen writing a sales letter, a great assessment tool is to use the 'rule of thirds.' It will help you get in the mind of your reader and give you their attention. You see, when we look at something we first look to our left, then our right, and finally we look down. This way of looking at things will tell you if your sales letter is moving the audience to your end. If it moves them to your side of the room you need to re-write your letter or start again. Otherwise, go back and look at it from different angles. One part of the rule of thirds is the center part of the letter. Have you ever noticed when you're driving down the road that the center of the road is always empty? That's because the center of the road is all the driving and traffic around the area of road. So with your letter, you want to make sure it's centered and to the middle. This will allow people to read the sales letter easier and faster, they will see what the sales letter is all about and they will be able to 'wake up' to the idea.Next, think about your letter and how you want it to look in the right angle. How would you like your letter to look when you are standing at the center of the letter, looking down? Most people would say it looks better if you stand in the middle or look in the middle of the letter instead of the left or right. What about when you are in a meeting or you're at a party and you're surrounded by other people, and you have to read a letter in front of everybody else? What if the letter has to be read right away, not when it's still in front of them. What if you turned the letter upside down or sideways? The biggest mistake I see people make is they do not read the letter when it's in the same position as it was in before. Why is this mistake? People tend to have their fingers in their ears while they read the letter and they don't really notice where they are in the letter un til they get halfway through. If you read the letter from left to right, top to bottom, and from top to bottom from the outside in, your sales letter will look very natural and you will find yourself nodding off.Now for your sales letter, think about this: When your letter looks natural it will be easier for you to sell your product to them. Your customers will feel comfortable when they're reading your letter. They won't get angry and they won't feel that you're trying to steal their business.Always make sure you're centered and that your sales letter looks clean, natural and clean. You can try writing this assessment in your head, but make sure that you follow it as closely as possible and always put it down on paper. After a few tries, you will find that you have an easier time getting in the mind of your reader and this will increase your sales.
